Joel Simon

Joel Simon originates from Belgium where he studied fine arts at the Académie Royale de Liège before living in the USA and England. He resides in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Prior to painting, he worked in the film and animation industry as a director, winning over 50 international awards, and collaborating with renowned artists such as Seamus Heaney, Richard Curtis, and Billy Connolly.

Returning to his roots in Fine Arts, Joel became increasingly fascinated by narrative oil paintings which he creates with his characteristic cinematic compositions and stylised poses.

Joel studied the traditional oil glazing techniques of old masters at the Florence Studio with internationally renowned American artist Joshua LaRock, and alla prima painting with Russian artist Arthur Gain.

His work has been purchased by international collectors and has been selected by the Royal Academy in London, The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Ulster Academy and various group exhibitions in the UK and Ireland.
