Villain

Villain has worked in the fashion industry for 20 years as a graphics and print director. In 2017 he was diagnosed with a serious brain condition that threatened his eyesight. This propelled him to bring his mischievous perspective to the art world, viewing pop art and iconography through a LGBTQ lense. 'Fantabuloso - Parody and Polari' is a series of works that Celebrates Polari, (the secret gay language) whilst subverting the comic book genre. It asks us to imagine a past where homosexuality was never criminalised and draws parallels between the duel identities of superheroes and the LGBTQ community of the past and present.
